Kurhula Village, Lulekani – The community of Kurhula village is in mourning following the tragic discovery of 15-year-old Mathilda Khosa’s body.

Mathilda, a grade 10 learner at Majeje High School in Lulekani Circuit under the Mopani-East District in Limpopo, was reported missing on Monday, 05 August 2024.

Her body was found dumped at Madan’wini site in Majeje village, outside Phalaborwa, on Wednesday.

Mathilda’s disappearance had sparked a frantic search by family, friends, and community members. The young girl’s family had reported her missing to the local police, who then launched an investigation. Posters and social media posts flooded the internet in a desperate attempt to locate her.

The search came to a devastating end when Mathilda’s body was found at Madan’wini site in Majeje village.

“The discovery of Mathilda Khosa’s body is a heartbreaking end to an already distressing situation,” said Captain Thabo Ndlovu, the lead investigator on the case.

“We cannot allow such heinous acts to go unpunished,” said Councillor Sipho Mthethwa.
