Johannesburg – The family of Mpumie Lindeka Hlabisa is pleading for help from the public after she mysteriously disappeared more than a year ago, leaving behind her four children and heartbroken loved ones.
Mpumie, born on 11 April 1995, was last seen in March 2024 after she told her family that she was going to the Home Affairs office near Bree Street in Johannesburg to apply for an identity document. Her family says that was the last time they saw her.

Her mother, who resides with her in South Hills, Johannesburg, recalls that Mpumie later made a brief phone call the next day, saying she didn’t end up going to Home Affairs — and after that, all communication ceased. Since then, there have been no sightings, no messages, and no further contact.
“She never came back home. We haven’t heard from her since that call. No one knows where she went. As a mother, I’m hurting. Her children are growing up asking questions we don’t have answers to,” her mother said with a heavy heart.
The case was reported at Moffatview Police Station, and a reference number was issued: OB 815/06/2025, confirming that the case remains open. The police have yet to provide updates on her whereabouts.
Mpumie originally comes from eNkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, but had moved to Johannesburg, where she was living with her mother and raising her four children.
Her sudden disappearance has left the family in deep distress. With each passing day, the pain grows deeper, especially for her young children who keep asking when their mother is coming back.
The family is appealing to anyone who may have seen her or knows her whereabouts to urgently come forward.
