As the investigation into the murder of 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek deepens, disturbing new claims have emerged suggesting the young boy may have previously spoken out about abuse before his untimely death.
Jayden-Lee, a learner at Royal College in Florida, Roodepoort, reportedly confided in classmates and teachers about troubling conditions at home. It’s alleged he mentioned being left alone for long periods, going without food, and showing signs of physical abuse, including visible bruises.
These revelations have led to growing outrage, especially after it was confirmed that education officials have now launched an internal investigation into the school’s handling of these alleged reports. The Gauteng Department of Education has sent a team to Royal College to verify whether proper safeguarding measures were followed and whether anyone failed to act on Jayden’s cries for help.
A department spokesperson confirmed that initial findings support the allegations. However, a full investigation is ongoing, with a promise that further updates will follow. The department emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of all learners in Gauteng.
The Murder Case Against the Mother

Jayden-Lee was reported missing on the afternoon of May 13, 2025. His scholar transport dropped him off at his Fleurhof apartment complex shortly after 4 PM, but he never made it into the flat.
At the time, his mother, 31-year-old Tiffany Nicole Dunn Meek, claimed to have been working from home and reported him missing when he didn’t return. His body was discovered the next morning in the stairwell near their home. According to reports, the child’s body was still warm with visible injuries, suggesting he had died not long before being found.
Following forensic analysis and police investigations, it was revealed that Jayden-Lee had suffered fatal head trauma, allegedly caused by a blunt object inside the home. His school uniform, books, and belongings were found in the flat, some stained with blood.
Tiffany Meek has since been arrested and charged with murder, crimen injuria, obstruction of justice, and attempting to defeat the administration of justice. She appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court earlier this week and is due to return on Friday, July 18, for bail proceedings and to formally introduce her legal representative.

Jayden’s Cry for Help That May Have Been Ignored
What makes this case even more heartbreaking is the possibility that the signs of abuse were seen, and yet nothing was done. Parents, activists, and education advocates are demanding accountability from all institutions involved.
Jayden-Lee’s death has shocked the nation and raised serious concerns about how schools, communities, and authorities respond when children speak up.
As the legal case unfolds, the public is calling not just for justice, but for systemic change to ensure that no other child suffers in silence.
