Vussy Sibuqashe, a 58-year-old electrician from Bethelsdorp in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, has been reported missing after leaving his home in Extension 36 on 17 June 2026 to attend to an electrical job in the Salt Lake area. He has not returned home and has not been seen since.

SAPS Bethelsdorp detectives are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could help establish Sibuqashe’s whereabouts.

What Happened to Vussy Sibuqashe in Bethelsdorp

According to police, Sibuqashe left his residence in Briggs Street, Extension 36, at approximately 14:00 on Wednesday, 17 June.

He was reportedly going to Salt Lake to attend to a job as an electrician. He never returned to his residence after leaving for the job.

Sibuqashe was reported missing to police on 24 June 2026, a week after he was last seen.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance have not been provided by police. There is currently no confirmed information in the SAPS appeal indicating where he may have gone after leaving for Salt Lake.

The last confirmed information provided by SAPS places Sibuqashe leaving his home in Extension 36, Bethelsdorp, at about 14:00 on 17 June 2026.

His intended destination was the Salt Lake area, where he was expected to attend to an electrical job.

Police have not provided a physical description of Sibuqashe or details about the clothing he was wearing when he was last seen. No additional identifying details were included in the appeal.

SAPS Bethelsdorp detectives have conducted enquiries in an effort to determine where Sibuqashe could be.

Police said enquiries were made with his friends and members of the community. Investigators also checked local hospitals and mortuaries.

Those enquiries have so far not produced a positive result, and Sibuqashe remains missing.

The investigation is being handled by Bethelsdorp detectives, who are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.
