Eastern Cape police have launched a murder investigation following a shocking discovery of 2 burnt bodies in the early hours of the morning near Fourth Avenue, Khayelitsha, just outside Gqeberha.
At approximately 8:35 AM, officers were alerted to the presence of two burnt bodies in a bushy area. Upon arrival, police found the charred remains of two unidentified young women.
“Preliminary investigations suggest the burnt victims are between 17 and 19 years old. At this stage, we do not know who they are or the motive behind this brutal act,” said Colonel André Beetge, Eastern Cape police spokesperson.
The motive for the killings remains unknown, and police believe the incident was intentional and violent. The Kwanobuhle SAPS is actively investigating and is appealing to the public to come forward with any information or leads.
