27-Year-Old Jason Wernich Reported Missing in Malvern, KZN
The Malvern community in KwaZulu-Natal is rallying together after the sudden disappearance of 27-year-old Jason Wernich, who was last seen on the evening of Tuesday, 14 October 2025. What began as a normal visit has since left family, friends, and neighbours deeply concerned, with growing calls for public assistance to help trace his whereabouts.
Jason was reportedly dropped off at his girlfriend’s home in Malvern around 4:30 p.m., where he stayed briefly before heading to a nearby bar. A bartender later confirmed that he had ordered an e-hailing ride to Bluff, about twenty minutes away. The car that collected him was said to be a grey Honda, driven by a female driver. That was the last confirmed sighting.

Jason’s sister, Leanne Wernich, described her brother as “quiet but friendly,” adding that his disappearance feels completely out of character.
“He always lets someone know where he is going. This silence is what frightens us most,” she said, her voice breaking. “We just want to know he’s safe. If anyone saw him that night or knows the driver, please come forward.”
The family has been visiting police stations, hospitals, and shelters in hopes of finding any trace of him. They have also joined local volunteers in distributing missing-person posters across Malvern, Bluff, and surrounding suburbs.
