As the community of Fleurhof searched desperately for missing 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek in May, horrific details now suggest that the boy may have already been dead — allegedly killed by his own mother inside their home.
Justice for Jayden: South Africans React as Mother Appears in Court for Son’s Murder
According to court documents, the Grade 5 learner from Royal College in Florida was dropped off at his residential complex just after 4PM on Monday, May 13, 2025. That was the last time he was seen alive.

His mother, 31-year-old Tiffany Nicole Dunn Meek, initially told authorities she was working from home at the time and grew concerned when her son didn’t arrive at their flat. However, she now stands accused of murder, crimen injuria, and attempting to defeat the course of justice.

🔍 What The Investigation Revealed
During her appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, the State revealed shocking evidence suggesting that Jayden-Lee was fatally struck in the head with a blunt object inside their home. The specific weapon has not yet been identified.
Forensic findings presented to the court show that blood was discovered on Jayden-Lee’s bed, as well as on his school uniform, books, and school bag — all of which were found inside the apartment.
Although his body was discovered on the apartment stairwell the following morning, police forensic analysis suggests he was already dead before being moved to that spot. When found, his body was reportedly still warm and clean but showed signs of trauma and visible injuries.
🗣️ “He Died Where He Should Have Been Safe” — Police Deputy Minister
Deputy Minister of Police, Shela Polly Boshielo, attended the court proceedings and shared her heartbreak with the community.
“Sadly, Jayden died in the very place where he was supposed to feel most protected — his home,” she said. “We are treating this case with the seriousness it deserves, and we will continue to monitor it closely.”
Boshielo did not rule out the possibility of more arrests as investigations continue.
😢 Tiffany Sobs in Court
Meek appeared emotional during her court appearance, reportedly shedding tears in the dock. She informed the court that she would be appointing a private attorney to represent her. She is due back in court on Friday, July 18, when the court is expected to address her bail status and confirm her legal representation.
At this stage, the motive behind Jayden-Lee’s murder remains unclear.
🕯️ The Fleurhof community and South Africans across the country continue to call for #JusticeForJayden. As the case unfolds, many are still in disbelief that such a brutal act could have taken place within the walls of a child’s home — allegedly at the hands of someone meant to protect him.
