A Young Woman Allegedly Checked Out of a Resort—And Was Never Seen Again
For 11 agonizing months, the family of Khulile “Khulani” Maseko has been searching for answers. A young woman vanished without a trace after checking out of a well-known Mpumalanga resort. As time passes, disturbing details have emerged—missing evidence, ignored leads, and a stalled police investigation.
Did someone want Khulani to disappear? Or was crucial evidence overlooked in a botched investigation?
The Last Moments Before She Vanished
- March 30, 2024 – Khulani was last seen at Solsun Valencia (next to Mochachos), her workplace.
- She left between 1-2 PM to deposit money at Valley Hyper.
- That night, she checked into a Venus Resort.
- March 31, 2024 (Sunday) – She checked out of the resort, but what happened next remains a mystery.
- The resort owner does not know how she left or if she was picked up.
- Witnesses claim that white cars were seen in the area, but no one can confirm if she got inside.
- Khulani never made it home and has not been seen or heard from since.
Message from the Resort Owner
The resort owner provided the following information regarding Khulani’s stay:
“Her room was booked on the 26th already and paid for with a credit card. But we now remember that she did have breakfast and paid that in cash. My cleaning lady says that only one person slept in the room. After breakfast, the cleaning lady thought she had left and went to clean. She was still in the room and said she was waiting for someone to pick her up. So it must have been between 9:00 and 9:30 that she left. But none saw her leave.”
Family’s Frustration with the Investigation
The family of Khulani Maseko has expressed deep frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation. According to them:
“Our focus was on the CCTV cameras monitoring entrances and exits at the resort, but we were told they belong to Sappi company and that only the detectives’ office has permission to view them.”
“Everything that you have here is all the information we gathered ourselves with the little resources we had in the first two weeks after her disappearance—through her work laptop as well as trying to hack her email address. We also physically went to the resort where she was last seen on Sunday, March 31.”
“In our opinion, the detectives’ office has given us zero new leads other than saying they are requesting some of her things, like a toothbrush, for DNA sampling. No new leads have been provided in the last ten months. Nothing has been done since her disappearance.”
“We went to the resort and spoke to the family that owns the place. An elderly white woman confirmed Khulani’s stay there and kept saying she left with a white car, but they never saw her getting into it.”

Did Her Browser History Reveal a Cry for Help?
In the days before she disappeared, Khulani’s search history contained disturbing questions:
- “Can someone die from a paracetamol overdose?”
- “Would you die if you jumped off a cliff?”
Was she in emotional distress, or was she trying to send a message? Was someone else involved?
The Missing Evidence: Why Haven’t the Police Acted?
Key evidence that could crack the case has been ignored or lost:
- CCTV Footage – The security cameras facing the Resort entrance belong to Sappi. Police never retrieved the footage.
- Work Laptop – Her laptop, which may contain crucial information about her last movements, was never handed over to investigators.
- The Four White Cars – On the morning of March 31, four white cars left the area. The resort owner attempted to trace them and found that they belonged to individuals in the area for work, not resort guests. However, police never investigated them further:
- Audi A3 – FXT *** MP
- VW Polo – CY ***16
- Renault – CAW *-135
- Renault – KS ** ZV GP
Why have the owners of these cars not been questioned by the police? Could one of these vehicles have been used to abduct Khulani?
