The disappearance of Mapitso Ibezim (39) has sparked deep concern in Phahameng, Bloemfontein, after she failed to return home on Thursday, 10 July 2025, following a drive with her boyfriend, a Nigerian national. The couple was last seen leaving around 7 pm in a black VW vehicle.
Mapitso was wearing navy blue pyjamas with white teddy bears, a blue gown, a white doek, and black shoes. She left her cellphone at home, and attempts to reach her have been unsuccessful. Her boyfriend, believed to be a Nigerian national working as a mechanic/electrician at a scrapyard in Heidedal, is nowhere to be found.
The family reports that his cellphone is off, and while the business number rings, no one picks up. There are also concerns that the vehicle driven that night may not have belonged to him, as he is known to use customers’ vehicles for work purposes.

🗣️ Statements
“This is not just worrying — it’s frightening,” said a family member. “Mapitso never stays out without telling someone. Now, both she and the man she has vanished. His phones aren’t helping, and we don’t know whose car he was even driving.”
The family shared their frustration after reporting the matter to Mangaung police station: “The police told us to bring someone who knows where she is, then they’ll act. But how can we do that if she’s missing?”
A concerned neighbour added, “This feels wrong. Everyone in Phahameng and Heidedal should be alert. Please help us find her.”
🔐 Safety Tip
Never travel with someone unless a trusted friend or family member knows exactly who you’re with, what car you’re in, and when you’re expected back. Always take your phone with you.
