Eight-year-old Amahle Michel Thabethe disappeared without a trace from Tsakane, Brakpan, on 6 April 2019. She was last seen helping a man who asked for directions — and she never returned. Six years have passed, and her loved ones continue their desperate search. In a renewed plea for public assistance, the South African Police Service (SAPS) recently released a forensic sketch — an age progression image of what Amahle might look like today at 14 years old.
The sketch, created by forensic artists, aims to trigger recognition and bring fresh leads to investigators. Amahle was last seen wearing a blue and white t-shirt and black jeans with heart-printed pockets. Authorities and her family believe someone, somewhere, knows something — and they’re pleading for answers.
Her disappearance shocked the community and devastated her family, who have never given up on finding her.
In a painful twist, the case went cold despite an initial R50,000 reward offered for any information leading to her recovery. Today, the police released an age progression photo to show what Amahle might look like now, at 14 years old.
Authorities and her family plead with the public: “There just has to be someone, somewhere, who saw something. Please help us bring Amahle home.”

💬 Family Statements
Nokulunga Nkosi, Amahle’s heartbroken mother, says:
“So many people approach me with empty promises. I have so many regrets. I should never have allowed her to play at the neighbour’s house back then. My advice to parents is: never let your child out of your sight. We are living in a very cruel world.”
Her grandfather, Thomas Nkosi (77), shared:
“She was such a blessing in our lives. I am stressed, my health has suffered, but I believe that God will intervene and bring Amahle back to us. God is existing and nothing is impossible for Him.”
Despite the case going cold, community members remain hopeful, and her name is often brought up in prayer circles, school assemblies, and community forums.
