Port Nolloth, Northern Cape – A mysterious disappearance has left the community of Port Nolloth in shock, as Anthony Gerald Bruwer, 54, has been missing since November 1, 2024. Despite being the only missing person in the town, there are no new leads, and the investigation has been at a standstill for almost 3 months. His family is frustrated and heartbroken by the lack of support from the authorities, raising serious questions about the investigation’s progress.
The Disappearance: What We Know
Anthony Gerald Bruwer moved to Port Nolloth from Alberton in July 2024 for a fresh start, but just a few months later, he was reported missing by his family after he suddenly disappeared without a trace on November 1, 2024. His ex-wife, Zelda, and his cousin, Dene Bruwer, were among the last to hear from him and immediately raised concerns when they realized something was wrong.
“He didn’t take his car with him. His phone has been switched off since November 25–26, 2024, and we’ve heard nothing from him,” said Zelda Bruwer, his ex-wife. “We’ve been trying to get answers, but the investigator is never available, and the police haven’t made any progress. It feels like we’re being left in the dark.”
No Updates, No Leads – What’s Going Wrong?
Despite efforts by the family to get in touch with the lead investigator on the case, there have been no meaningful updates. In fact, Anthony is the only missing person in Port Nolloth, yet the police seem to be doing little to find him.

Dene Bruwer, Anthony’s cousin who lives in Port Nolloth, has been working closely with the authorities but says, “There’s been no response from the police or any progress. We’ve reached out to the investigator multiple times, but we get no answers.”
As the investigation stalls, the Bruwer family’s concerns are escalating. Anthony has two young children who are desperate to know where their father is.
A Call for Help – What the Family Needs
The family is calling on the community to step forward with any information that could lead to answers. Whether it’s a sighting, a conversation, or anything that may seem insignificant, every detail matters.
“Please, if anyone has any information, come forward. We just want to know where he is and what has happened to him,” said Zelda.
