The Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court was a scene of raw emotion and defiant protest as furious Fleurhof residents rallied against Tiffany Meek, the woman accused of murdering her son, 4-year-old Jayden-Lee. The community, demanding that Meek be denied bail, is also fiercely opposing her proposed relocation to KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Tiffany Meek appeared in court today (Friday) for her scheduled bail application. However, proceedings were postponed to Monday after she entered a plea of not guilty. In her bail affidavit, Meek indicated her intention to reside with her father in KZN if released on bail—a suggestion that only intensified the public outcry.
Outside the courtroom, a sea of placards bore heartbreaking messages: “Justice for Jayden-Lee” and “No Bail for Baby Killer.” Chanting and tears filled the air as community members stood united in their refusal to see Meek walk free.

“She must not even think about going to KZN. She must rot in jail for what she did to that boy,” said a devastated local resident.
“We don’t want to live with a murderer, and neither should any other community,” another protester added.
Many in the community believe releasing Meek would be a miscarriage of justice. They fear she may flee, tamper with evidence, or avoid facing the full consequences of her actions.
“We want those who did this tragedy with her to be punished as well. What she did is unforgivable,” said another emotional resident. “The state must not grant her bail until the whole truth is revealed.”
The tragic death of young Jayden-Lee has shocked the nation, with new, disturbing details emerging about the child’s final days. The case has sparked national interest and amplified public demand for swift and uncompromising justice.
ActionSA Member of Parliament Dereleen James, who attended the hearing, voiced her support for the community and called for full accountability.
“We cannot allow anyone to walk free after killing a child. The law must take its course. Justice must be served,” she said.
The court is expected to continue hearing the bail application on Monday. Meanwhile, the Fleurhof community has vowed to continue their protests until Meek is kept behind bars.
As the case continues to unfold, the nation stands in solidarity with Fleurhof, echoing one clear message: No bail. No mercy. Justice for Jayden-Lee.
