📍Ogibeni, KwaZulu-Natal — The quiet community of Ogibeni in southern KwaZulu‑Natal is reeling in shock following the brutal murder of a young woman who was passionate about fitness. Zandile Kheswa, known for her love of jogging alone in the nearby forest, was found dead after being sexually assaulted and her throat slit.
The tragic incident occurred in broad daylight. According to reports, Zandile had returned from town and decided to go for a jog, something she regularly enjoyed. Sadly, this would be her final run. She never made it back home alive.
It is suspected that her attackers had been watching her for some time, possibly tracking her jogging routine. On this particular day, they ambushed her, sexually assaulted her, and killed her in cold blood. Her lifeless body was discovered by a woman who had gone to collect firewood in the same forest. She immediately raised the alarm upon seeing Zandile’s half-naked body lying in the bush.
When the family was contacted, they rushed to the scene and were met with a heartbreaking sight — Zandile’s body showing clear signs of severe trauma and injury. She had been stripped of her clothing, confirming the suspected sexual assault before her murder.
Local police were notified and arrived at the scene promptly. They conducted investigations and secured the area. Although no arrests have been made, authorities are hopeful that witnesses or members of the community will come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
