Roodepoort, Gauteng – Tuesday, 22 July 2025
All eyes are once again on the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court today as Tiffany Meek, the mother accused of the gruesome murder of her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, returns for a pivotal bail hearing.
Monday’s court session painted a chilling picture of the events leading up to Jayden-Lee’s tragic death. Investigating Officer Sergeant N. Diko took the stand, presenting compelling testimony and disturbing forensic details that may heavily influence the magistrate’s decision today.
According to Diko, the child had sustained multiple injuries, including a cut on the forehead, bruises on the neck, arms, and legs, and blood on his lips. These findings were revealed in a statement from a nurse who had examined the child.
Diko further read a statement from a K9 dog handler who was present during the discovery of Jayden-Lee’s body. The blood-detection dog led investigators to a white pillow with blood stains, a mattress, and other items like a school bag and shoes, all of which were found inside the Meek home. Forensic results confirmed the blood matched Jayden-Lee’s DNA.

Tiffany Meek stands accused of:
- Murder
- Defeating the ends of justice
- Crimen injuria
- Obstruction of justice
What to Expect Today
As her formal bail application continues, the court is expected to hear counter-arguments from her defense, possibly revealing her reasons for seeking bail, including her reported wish to relocate to KwaZulu-Natal, a move that has already sparked outrage from the public.
Magistrates may weigh the risk of flight, public anger, and safety concerns, especially given the emotional and high-profile nature of this case. Public opinion has turned sharply against Meek, with many believing she should remain in custody until the trial concludes.
Community Reactions and Outrage
Public outrage is growing, especially on social media platforms, where people are demanding justice for Jayden-Lee. Many believe that Meek’s alleged request to relocate if granted bail is not only insensitive but a slap in the face to the community still mourning the child.
