Family wakes up to a nightmare after beloved sister vanishes in the night
The Rustenburg community has been left reeling after 44-year-old Udica Awol, affectionately known as Cindy, vanished without a trace during the early hours of Monday, April 28, 2025. Cindy, who resided on Lucas Street in Rustenburg, was last seen by her sister on the evening of Sunday, April 27, around 11 PM as the two retired to bed.
By 6 AM the next morning, her sister awoke to find that Cindy was no longer in the house. She hadn’t said anything about going anywhere, and her phone was left behind. Panic set in immediately, and a frantic search began.
Despite combing through nearby areas and following up on leads in Rustenburg, no substantial information has come to light. Now, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the family are urging the public to assist in locating Cindy.

Distinctive Features That Could Help Identify Cindy
At the time of her disappearance, Cindy was dressed in a black top and black jeans. She is described as light in complexion, weighing approximately 55kg, with a slender build. Her curly brown hair and warm brown eyes are easy identifiers, but it’s her unique markings that may be most helpful in locating her.

- A scar on her left cheek
- A scorpion tattoo on her back
- The word “fearless” was tattooed under her right ear
These distinctive features could make a crucial difference in helping someone recognize her.
Police Investigation Underway — Community Involvement Needed
SAPS spokespersons confirmed that all leads have been followed thus far, but have not yielded any positive results. The investigating officer, Sergeant Amukelani Mashembye, is actively working on the case and encourages anyone with helpful information to come forward.
