Public Reaction: Supporters Claim a Setup, Others Call for Justice
The arrest has sparked widespread debate across KwaZulu-Natal.
Some residents believe Mhlongo’s crime-fighting efforts made him enemies, suggesting he was targeted for exposing criminal networks.
One comment read, “They pinned this on him because he was exposing dirty cops.”
Others, however, insist that justice must take its course, with one saying, “If he’s innocent, the truth will clear him.”
Njoms Security Continues Operating Amid Owner’s Arrest
Despite the controversy, Njoms Security remains active. The company recently worked with Alexandra Road police detectives to arrest Kwanele Gumede, known as Mapeni in the France section, who was wanted for burglary and armed robbery.
The company’s continued cooperation with the police has drawn both praise and curiosity from the public.
What Happens Next in the Bruce Mhlongo Case
Mhlongo’s court appearance today is expected to focus on procedural matters ahead of his formal bail hearing next week.
The KwaZulu-Natal Organised Crime Unit continues its investigation, and additional suspects could be arrested once ballistic and witness results are finalized.
For now, the Bruce Mhlongo case remains one of the most closely watched in KwaZulu-Natal, drawing attention to the blurred line between private security work and criminal involvement.
