Simon’s Town police have launched a public appeal to help locate 35-year-old Bonginkosi Nkambule, a South African Navy member who has been missing for several days.
Nkambule was last seen on Friday, 12 December 2025, after leaving his workplace in Simon’s Town.
He was wearing his SA Navy uniform and failed to report for duty the following day, prompting concern and an official search.
According to police, Bonginkosi Nkambule left his place of work in Simon’s Town on Friday afternoon and has not been seen since. When he did not return for duty the next day, colleagues raised the alarm, and the matter was reported to the police.
Nkambule is 35 years old and serves in the S A Navy. At the time he went missing, he was wearing his official SA Navy uniform. Police have not released further details about his movements after leaving work.
The case has drawn attention due to his military role and the mysterious nature of his disappearance.

Simon’s Town police confirmed that an active investigation is underway. All available leads have been followed, but efforts to trace Nkambule have so far been unsuccessful.
“The investigating officer followed up all leads in a bid to locate Bonginkosi, without success,” police said in a statement.
Detective Sergeant Portia Pitsi is leading the investigation. Police are urging anyone who may have seen Nkambule or who has information about his whereabouts to come forward.
