Missing Azena Nongeni (29) Found Dead, Murder Investigation Underway

Tragedy has struck the community of Bushbuckridge following the discovery of a missing woman, Azena Nongeni (29), who was reported missing on Friday, 27 June 2025. Her lifeless body has now been found in the most chilling circumstances.

According to police, Azena’s body was discovered hidden under a mattress in a rental room belonging to a male friend, not far from where she had been staying in Malaineng, Bushbuckridge. Authorities have confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate she was murdered.

Azena, originally from the Eastern Cape, had been living in Mpumalanga and working hard to build her life. Her sudden disappearance sent shockwaves through her family and the local community, who held onto hope that she would be found safe. Sadly, that hope has now turned into mourning.

Her body was identified by her sister, who confirmed that Azena had last been seen alive on the evening of 27 June after returning home from work. Since then, her whereabouts had been a mystery until the grim discovery.

🚨 Police Hunt for Key Person of Interest

A murder case has been officially opened, and police are now actively searching for a man known as Mr Salom, believed to be a 32-year-old Mozambican national. He is urged to urgently contact the police, as he is believed to hold crucial information that may assist with the investigation.

So far, no arrests have been made, and investigators are working tirelessly to piece together what led to Azena’s tragic death.
