Jenny-Lee Janse van Rensburg has been missing for more than 14 years, but her family has now received confirmation from SAPS of a significant development in her timeline. According to the family, Jenny-Lee was arrested in Krugersdorp in June 2014, two years after she was last seen by relatives at Pollsmoor Prison in the Western Cape.

The family says they had no knowledge of the 2014 arrest at the time and were unaware that an address in Siveright Street, Krugersdorp, had been recorded in Jenny-Lee’s police records. The case connected to that arrest was later withdrawn. Her family is now trying to understand what happened to her after that point.

What happened to Jenny-Lee after she left Pollsmoor Prison?

Jenny-Lee was 30 years old when she disappeared. Her family says they are not certain of the exact date on which she was taken to Pollsmoor Prison, but believe it was sometime between January and 7 February 2012.

On 7 February 2012, her father and one of her sisters travelled to Pollsmoor to visit her. According to the family, this was the last confirmed occasion on which a family member saw Jenny-Lee.

She had turned 30 four days earlier, on 11 February.

The family says they never established why Jenny-Lee had been imprisoned.

On 24 February 2012, Jenny-Lee was released directly from Pollsmoor after being granted bail. No family member was present when she left, and the family says they were not informed about her release.

When her father later returned to Pollsmoor, he was told that Jenny-Lee had been released on bail. He asked who had secured the bail, but the family says that information was not disclosed to him.

More than 14 years later, the family says they still do not know who paid or secured Jenny-Lee’s bail.

There was also a court case connected to the bail. Her father went to the court on the date Jenny-Lee was expected to appear because he hoped to see his daughter there. According to the family, she did not attend.

The family has never obtained the relevant court or bail records.

They say they do not know where Jenny-Lee went after leaving Pollsmoor.

Jenny-Lee was arrested in Krugersdorp in June 2014

The next significant trace of Jenny-Lee came more than two years after her release from Pollsmoor.

According to her family, SAPS recently confirmed that Jenny-Lee was arrested in Krugersdorp in June 2014.

Police also confirmed to the family that an address in Siveright Street, Krugersdorp, was recorded in her records at the time.

For her family, this was a significant discovery because they say they had no idea that Jenny-Lee was in Krugersdorp, that she had been arrested there, or that the address had been recorded in her police records.

The family says they do not know who lived at the address and have no information about why Jenny-Lee was in Krugersdorp at the time.

The criminal matter connected to the 2014 arrest was later withdrawn, according to information the family says was confirmed by SAPS.

The family also says SAPS confirmed that the 2012 missing-person case was apparently not picked up in Krugersdorp when Jenny-Lee was arrested.

What SAPS has confirmed about Jenny-Lee in 2026

Jenny-Lee’s family remains in contact with SAPS and says investigating officers have carried out further checks in an effort to establish what happened to her.

According to the family, SAPS checked Jenny-Lee’s identity records in June or July 2026 and confirmed that she has not changed her name or surname.

Her passport records were also checked.

The family says SAPS confirmed that there is no record of Jenny-Lee leaving South Africa through any border.

SAPS also reportedly checked whether she was currently recorded as being in a prison or hospital. According to the family, those checks did not locate her.

Her missing-person case remains active.

The family says the latest checks have not provided an answer about where Jenny-Lee is today, but they have given them reason to continue looking for information within South Africa.

Before her disappearance, Jenny-Lee was known to spend time in several parts of the country. Her family says she was often in Krugersdorp, Roodepoort, Johannesburg and Pretoria.

In the Western Cape, she was known around Brooklyn, Bellville, Brackenfell, Sea Point and Cape Town. She also spent time in Mossel Bay and Knysna.

Jenny-Lee had studied hairdressing.

Her family says there has been no confirmed contact from her since 2012. They have received no verified phone calls or messages from her and have not been able to establish any genuine social-media activity connected to her.

The Pink Ladies, whom the family approached for assistance after she was reported missing, have also been unable to locate her.
