Police in Welkom, Free State, are appealing for help to find 29-year-old Christopher Cloete, who disappeared after leaving home on Thursday morning, 30 October 2025. His car was later discovered parked on Elizabeth Street, but he has not been seen since.

A missing person case has been opened, and the investigation is now underway as concern grows among relatives and the local community.

Missing Man in Welkom: What Happened to Christopher Cloete?

According to information shared with the police, Christopher Cloete left his home at about 07:00 on the morning of 30 October. Later that day, family members managed to trace his vehicle to Elizabeth Street in Welkom, where it was found abandoned.

There was no sign of Cloete in or near the car. Despite searches by relatives and friends, no further trace has been found. His appearance is described as tall with long brown hair, and at this stage, it is not known what clothing he was wearing when he disappeared.

Welkom Police Investigation: Car Found but Man Still Missing

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Welkom have confirmed that a formal missing person case has been registered. Detective Sergeant Sello Mali from the Welkom Detective Services is leading the investigation.

“A missing person’s file has been registered and investigations are underway. We appeal to anyone with information to contact us immediately,” said Detective Sergeant Sello Mali.

Residents in Welkom and nearby towns have begun circulating his photo across Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and WhatsApp groups in an effort to widen the search. Community leaders and local organizations have also joined calls for information.
