Armed Attack on Pumpkin Road, Waterloo Leaves Family Shaken
A quiet Friday evening in Waterloo turned into a terrifying ordeal for two siblings who were ambushed and robbed outside their home on Pumpkin Road. The armed suspects not only stole their phones but also forced them to make an instant cash transfer before fleeing the scene.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) confirmed that their officers responded to the incident at around 20:30 after receiving an emergency call reporting a house robbery.

How the Waterloo Robbery Unfolded
According to RUSA, the male victim had just driven into the property when two armed men confronted him and his sister at gunpoint. The suspects demanded their belongings, making off with an iPhone 12 and a Samsung A34.
In a disturbing twist, the victims were forced to transfer R2,900 to a mobile number believed to be connected to one of the suspects.
“They were frightened but calm enough to comply, which may have saved their lives,” a RUSA officer at the scene explained.

The Suspects’ Getaway
The male victim told officers he noticed a white Toyota Fortuner parked across the road during the attack. The vehicle is suspected to have been used as the getaway car, although no registration plate was recorded.
Police investigations are now underway to trace the suspects and verify whether the getaway vehicle was stolen or linked to other recent crimes in the area.

Residents of Waterloo have expressed growing concern over the rise in armed robberies in the area. “We don’t feel safe even in our own homes anymore. Every week there’s a new story,” one neighbor said while watching police comb the scene.
